Commonly referenced as ‘Shaggy Mountain Mahogany’ this shrub grows in the mountains of the Southwest and into Northern Mexico. It is similar to ‘Montanus’ however it contains a smaller leaf and is more pubescent. This small tree can be referred as a small tree or a large shrub and it generally an evergreen. It contains small tubular yellow flowers in the spring and are followed by fruit with long feather-like hairs. The plants are happiest in middle to higher elevations.
