The ‘Big Sagebrush’ thrives in dry, rocky soils in full sun. Once established it will want little or no irrigation in the summer. It is extremely drought tolerant and is susceptible to root rot if the soil is too wet. It is excellent for banks and slopes as a ground cover or hedge. It maybe considered a small tree or an evergreen shrub. The shrub features gnarled branches clothed with highly aromatic, small, silky, silvery leaves tipped with teeth. The foliage emits sweet aroma when bruised.
