The Helene Rose of Sharon contains white, heavily ruffled flowers with reddish purple eyes to complement the leathery dark green leaves. It is dense, upright and is more compact than others. It blooms nearly continuously over a long season, and rarely sets seeds. It does a great job tolerating air pollution. Like that of its kind, it also makes a wonderful informal hedge or screen and is easily trained into a small tree.
