Around midsummer it begins to bloom with a rosy pink hue, in the fall the leaves turn deep red bronze. The tan brown exfoliating bark is attractive in the winter. It serves as an excellent landscape specimen or foundation plant. It is also useful when used as a flowering hedge plant. This plant is easy to care for and tolerates acidic soil.
