Nanus is a dwarfed deciduous shrub with clusters of white to pink flowers that bloom in the spring. It is known for its exfoliating bark that features shades of red underneath. It also has dark green leaves that are shallowly lobed and turn yellow in the fall. It tolerates some drought and alkaline soils.
