Texas Mountain Laurel is a slow growing tree that eventually will become a large evergreen shrub or a small tree. It has stunning dark shiny green leaves. Also feature on this plant are colorful clusters of highly fragrant violet pea-shaped flowers that occur in early spring. It is native to regions of the southwest from New Mexico and Texas to northern Mexico. It can handle heat and drought. It may be used as a background plant where its deep green foliage and fragrant flowers are appreciated.
