Gleditsia tricanthos inermis ‘Shademaster’

Mature Height: 50-70 feet
Mature Width: 25-40 feet
USDA Hardiness Zone Range:  4 to 9
Water Requirements:  Moderate Water
Shade Requirements:  Full Sun, Partial Shade

The Shademaster has fragrant flowers and is quite low maintenance. It is also tolerant against pollution and tends to grow at a fast growing rate. The Shademaster grows into a beautiful rounded shape. The leaves are nicely green through the summer and begin to turn a lovely golden-yellow in the fall. The tree forms a nice shade, but not such a deep shade that the grass or other plantings beneath it can’t grow well. Another great feature is that the wood is extremely hard allowing the tree to hold up extremely well from ice storms and wind damage.
